Recording options

Supercut by default records your camera and your screen as two separate videos, so you can change the layout after you record. You can disable this option and record your camera as a squircle or bubble in your screen.

Written by Supercut

Supercut records your camera and your screen as two separate videos. The layout isn't baked in, so you can choose the camera position, resize its size, or switch layout style after you've finished recording. If you'd rather keep the camera inside the frame and move it while you record, you can turn that off.

1. Record with the camera separate

This is the default, so there's nothing to set up. The desktop app captures:

  • your screen as one video

  • your camera as a second video

When the recording is ready, open Customize and go to the Layout tab to change the camera position, shape, and size, or to pick a different layout style. Learn more about changing your layout

2. Open your recording settings

In the desktop app, open Settings and select the Recording tab.

3. Turn off Record camera separately

Switch Record camera separately off to record your camera and your screen in the same frame.

  • Choose a Camera shape for the in-frame camera bubble: Squircle or Circle

⚠️ Layouts options after the recording and camera background changes will not be available with this option.

4. Move the camera while you record

With the setting off, you can drag the camera bubble around the screen during the recording, and the move is captured in the video. The position you record is the position your viewers see, so you can't change it afterwards.

That's it!

Keep Record camera separately on when you want to set the layout after recording. Turn it off when you want to move the camera as you talk and keep your face in the frame. Either way, you hit record and share the link.
