Written by Supercut

1. Launch the recording app

Click the Record button in the top navigation bar of your workspace.

A popup will ask to open the Supercut app. Click Open Supercut. Check "Always allow" to skip this next time.

Recording requires the Supercut Mac app or Windows app. A Chrome extension is also available.

2. Set up your recording

Once the app launches, you'll see your recording dashboard:

  • Camera — select your camera or disable it to record screen only.

  • Microphone — choose your mic or mute it.

  • Screen — capture your full display, a specific window, a custom area, or camera only.

  • Resolution — click the gear icon in the camera preview to choose 720p, 1080p, 2K, or 4K.

3. Customize recording preferences

Click the three dots in the top-right corner for advanced options:

  • Set a countdown timer before recording starts

  • Toggle mouse and keyboard tracking

  • Choose what happens after recording: auto-copy share link, open in a new tab, or send notifications

  • Configure keyboard shortcuts for start, pause, and region selection

4. Adjust advanced settings

In the Advanced tab:

  • Start Supercut at login

  • Manage camera, mic, screen, and accessibility permissions

5. Record

Click Record to start. During recording you can:

  • Pause and resume anytime

  • Restart for a fresh take

  • Cancel to stop without saving

Click Stop Recording when done. Your video uploads automatically and is ready to watch, edit, or share.

That's it! Your first Supercut is ready to share.
