Desktop app settings

There are several settings you can control in your desktop app to customize your recording experience.

1. Access Desktop App Settings

Open the Settings menu from the app’s main panel to customize your recording preferences.

2. Recording Settings

In the Recording section, you can adjust:

Count-in time
Set how many seconds you’d like before the recording starts. The default is 3 seconds, but you can change it based on your preference.

During recording
Choose whether to hide desktop icons and folders while recording.
You can also enable tracking of anonymous mouse and keyboard activity — this is required if you plan to use Auto-Edit. Learn more about Auto-Edit →

After recording

  • Automatically copy your video link to the clipboard to share it instantly.

  • Click Manage permissions to open the notification panel and select which notifications you’d like to receive.

  • Enable the option to automatically open the video link in your browser when your recording ends.

3. Shortcuts

In the Shortcuts tab, you can customize keyboard shortcuts to record, pause, restart, finish, or cancel your recordings.

imply click on any shortcut field and press your preferred key combination, your selection will be saved automatically. This makes your recording workflow faster and smoother.

4. Advanced

Under Advanced, you can:

  • Enable Beta updates to get early access to new features before their main release

In the System sections you can control

  • Whether to hide the app from your dock

  • Whether to automatically launch the app when you log into your computer

In Permissions, you can manage screen, accessibility, microphone, and camera access. These permissions are essential for recording your videos, so make sure they’re enabled.

Lastly, If you ever want to start fresh, click Reset defaults to restore all settings to their original state.


Once you’ve set your preferences, you’re all set to record with your ideal setup. These settings help you personalize your workflow, save time, and make every recording smoother and more efficient.
