System Sound lets you record the audio playing on your computer, such as music, video calls, or app sounds, alongside your microphone. This is useful when you want viewers to hear exactly what you were hearing during a screen recording.
1. Enable System Sound in the Desktop App
Open the Supercut desktop app and go to Settings.
On Mac (version 1.0.890 and above)Go to settings - toggle "Record System Sound"
On Windows (version 0.1.61 and above)
Settings -> Advanced -> toggle "Record System Sound"
2. Enable and mix in System Sound in your video settings
If you recorded a Supercut with System Sound enabled, you have to turned it on in the player.
To do this:
Open the Supercut
Click Customize (top-right of the video)
Open Settings
Scroll to the Audio section
From there, you can adjust:
Mode: Choose between Unprocessed, Balanced (levels out volume), or Remove Noise (balancing + noise removal). System sound works with all three. (more info on audio mode here)
System Sound toggle: Turn system audio on or off for this recording.
Volume sliders: When system sound is on, drag the Microphone and System Audio sliders to find the right balance.
Preview: Listen to your mix before applying it.
Publish: Apply your changes to the video.
When you publish, you may be asked whether to regenerate the transcript to include or exclude the system audio. Regenerating will also update captions and chapters, replacing any manual edits.
Recordings with system sound only (no microphone) now get the same transcription quality and language coverage as recordings with a mic, so captions and chapters stay accurate even without narration.
